Some History on Stem Cell Research for Erection Problems<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Zahasky’s research wasn’t the first to investigate the benefits of stem cells for erection health. In 2005, Doctors\u00a0W. Deng, T. J. Bivalacqua, W. J. G. Hellstrom, and P. J. Kadowitz had a study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine’s International Journal of Impotence Research, . This study, “Gene and Stem Cell Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction<\/a>,” focused on the special difficulties men with diabetes, non-nerve sparing radical prostatectomy, and high disease severity face with finding relief using PDE5 inhibitors. Many men with these issues do not respond to the drugs.<\/p>\n

The researchers noted that the highest number of men who do not respond to these drugs fall into the categories of patients with diabetes, radical prostatectomy, and certain severe diseases. With gene therapy and stem cell treatments, they believed these men might find new hope.<\/p>\n

This study was not conducted on humans, but on laboratory rats with diabetes and advanced age. The results showed that although there were difficulties narrowing down the best approach for creating the injection materials and with the rats responded to those injections, with modifications, the final results showed promise.<\/p>\n

Although this was one very early study into the effectiveness of stem cells for improving blood flow to the penis, it was an important one. The researchers concluded that while the results in laboratory animals wasn’t final, it suggested that stem cells could help human patients find the relief that they need.<\/p>\n
