According to scientists out of\u00a0Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, erectile health pills could help people who suffer from muscular dystrophy. The study, published in Neurology, showed that a dose of tadalafil (Viagra, Cialis) helped to increase blood flow through the body. Scientists believe that increasing the blood flow in the body of those who suffer from muscular dystrophy could help to slow the spread of the disease while also helping to repair muscle and tissue.<\/p>\n
“People with Duchenne muscular dystrophy have a blood flow abnormality – delivery of blood and oxygen to their muscles – that does not increase the way it should during mild exercise,” said\u00a0lead researcher Dr. Ronald Victor.<\/p>\n
While the disease only affects one in every 3,500 people, researchers believe it is imperative to figure out a way to fight back against it. While the findings are still preliminary, scientists believe that this study could help to concoct ways to cure muscular dystrophy entirely.<\/p>\n
The results for the study were so promising that Eli Lilly & Co., makers of tadalafil, have begun conducting studies of their own to determine the legitimacy of using their drug to help muscular dystrophy patients.<\/p>\n
