Suffering with Erectile Dysfunction is no fun. But neither are some of ED treatment methods currently on the market. The way we see it, you can take some Viagra\u2026or you can try one of these cringe-worthy alternatives.<\/p>\n

If your doctor approves your use of Viagra (Viagra is contraindicated in men taking nitrate drugs or some antibiotics and antifungals, and\/or may not be prescribed if there are other certain underlying conditions) taking The Little Blue Pill may prove far more desirable than your other choices. In fact, the occasional transient (temporary) side effects of Viagra, like headache, stomach upset and \u201cblue halo vision\u201d pale in comparison to the discomfort and overall weirdness of the alternative choices. See for yourself:<\/p>\n

1) Penile suppositories<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Inserting a prostaglandin suppository into the penis can produce an erection in about 5 \u2013 10 minutes. This erection should last about 30 to 60 minutes, so plan accordingly and be ready to get right to work. Penis, testicle or groin pain, minor bleeding or spotting from the penis, dizziness, swelling (especially of leg veins), and rapid heartbeat are all side effects. Oh, and your lady friend may have burning or irritation as well. Good times.<\/p>\n

2) Intracavernous injections<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>If needles aren\u2019t your thing, then this ED treatment option is sure to make you squeamish. Before anticipated lovemaking, you will need to take the medication vial out of your fridge, draw up your prescribed dose, cleanse the penis with an alcohol pad and insert a medication-filled a needle into the penis somewhere between the base and middle. For proper delivery, the needle must penetrate the Corpus cavernosum, located between 1 to 3 o\u2019clock and 9 to 11 o\u2019clock (ask your doctor for a diagram). The resulting erection should last about an hour or two.<\/p>\n

3) Penis pump<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Slightly more sophisticated than a vacuum cleaner, penis pumps have received a notorious reputation thanks to those vain fellows who want to maximize their penis size simply for fun or sport. But these devices do have their place for legitimately impotent men.<\/p>\n

With this method, a device is placed over the penis and a manual or motorized pump creates suction, which helps draw blood into the penis. Once the penis is erect, a flexible compression ring (which should be attached to the pump prior to application on the penis) is slid onto the penis, which restricts blood flow out of the penis. It is generally advised that these rings not stay on the penis for longer than 30 minutes at a time, so the erection should be used immediately.<\/p>\n

Naturally, extreme caution must be used with this treatment method, since overzealous pumping can result in serious and long-term damage. If this is your option of choice, be sure to follow your physician\u2019s instructions to the \u201cT\u201d or your impotence problem could be longer lasting than you\u2019d ever imagined.<\/p>\n

\"Generic<\/a><\/p>\n

4) Penile implants<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>If all these other ED treatment methods fail, your last alternative is to hop on the surgeon\u2019s table. Yes, we said surgery. Yikes.<\/p>\n

Inflatable implants and semi-rigid rods are the two implant choices. Though costlier, inflatable implants are most desirable because they can be utilized on demand, and give a more natural feeling and appearance. In contrast, semi-rigid rods are made of malleable metal, which can be bent or lifted to initiate sex. These are far less natural and harder to conceal.<\/p>\n

While all of the above are viable treatment options for erectile dysfunction, you\u2019ll likely find it far simpler to open a bottle and swallow a Viagra. But ultimately, the choice is yours (and your doc\u2019s).<\/p>\n
