A BBC Radio survey found that 61% of men over 60 says they wish they were having more sex. But for women, only 21% said they wanted sex more often.<\/p>\n

Why do older men want more sex than women?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of that 61% of men that wish they were having more sex, half say the problem is that their partner doesn\u2019t want to do it more often. Why the discrepancy between the sexes?<\/p>\n

Part of the problem is how men and women value sex. For men, 42% surveyed said it\u2019s an important part of their lives, but only 16% of women agreed.<\/p>\n

Another issue may be that men get more satisfaction out of sex. Women may experience fewer orgasms or more pain during intercourse than men. Older women may also have a lower libido due to menopause.<\/p>\n

What other issues might play a role?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If 61% of men want more sex, but only half of them blame their minimal intercourse on their partner, what\u2019s to blame for the other 30.5%?<\/p>\n

For some men, there may be plenty of interest in sex but an inability to perform. Erectile dysfunction (ED), for example, is a common issue among older men.<\/p>\n

Luckily, for most men, erectile dysfunction is treatable with ED drugs. The three most popular erectile dysfunction drugs, Viagra, Levitra and Cialis, are only available by prescription.<\/p>\n

Requiring a prescription to get Viagra, Levitra and Cialis has an upside and a downside.<\/p>\n

The downside is that many men are too embarrassed to talk to their doctor about erectile dysfunction. For some men, impotence is seen as a sign of weakness, and they assume that erectile dysfunction requires a long and complicated physical and blood workup (which isn\u2019t always the case).<\/p>\n

But the upside is that Viagra, Levitra and Cialis are regulated and FDA-approved, ensuring that men aren\u2019t getting fake ED medications, which can contain dangerous ingredients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
