Raising the risk of Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/strong><\/p>\n

The study, which was based out of Taiwan, also found that patients with erectile dysfunction and diabetes or hypertension had an even greater risk of developing Parkinson\u2019s\u20142.8 and 2.2 times higher, respectively.<\/p>\n

There are possible theories for the link. One is that testosterone deficiencies may play a role, as both ED and Parkinson\u2019s are associated with low levels of the hormone.<\/p>\n

What exactly is Parkinson\u2019s disease?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parkinson\u2019s is a neurodegenerative brain disorder that worsens over time. It causes tremors, rigid muscles and slow, clumsy movement. It\u2019s primarily seen in middle-aged and older people and men are slightly more likely to develop the disease than women.<\/p>\n

Other symptoms may include confusion, pain, fatigue, urinary problems, fear or anxiety, among others, although symptoms are different for each person.<\/p>\n

There is no cure for Parkinson\u2019s, but there are treatments that can help manage the symptoms. Levodopa is a commonly prescribed medication for people with Parkinson\u2019s, and some people respond well to deep brain stimulation.<\/p>\n

What causes erectile dysfunction?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are many reasons that a man may experience erectile dysfunction. Some of them include heart disease, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, clogged blood vessels, high blood pressure, smoking, drug use, Peyronie\u2019s disease, alcoholism, treatments for an enlarged prostate or prostate cancer, anxiety, depression, PTSD and certain prescriptions.<\/p>\n

The good news is that most men with erectile dysfunction respond well to at least one of the top three ED medications like Cialis.<\/p>\n
