For men, factors causing erectile dysfunction (ED), for example, may include things like prostate cancer treatment or diabetes. <\/p>\n<p>But for women, sexual dysfunction may attributable to something as simple as insufficient quality sleep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Addressing sexual dysfunction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With erectile dysfunction, addressing men\u2019s sexual dysfunction may mean getting a prescription for one of the top ED drugs, like Cialis.<\/p>\n<p>For women, addressing sexual dysfunction could mean just getting one additional hour of sleep. In fact, a new study published in the <em>Journal of Sexual Medicine<\/em> found that for women, just one extra hour of sleep increases the likelihood of sex by 14%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Researchers studied 171 healthy women who had not recently used antidepressants and half of whom had at least one sexual partner.<\/p>\n<p>Each day for two weeks, the women were asked questions about sleep and sexual activity. These included such questions as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How long did it take you to fall asleep last night?<\/li>\n<li>How many hours of sleep did you get last night?<\/li>\n<li>How was the quality of your sleep?<\/li>\n<li>Did you masturbate within the past 24 hours?<\/li>\n<li>Did you have sex (oral, anal, hand, vaginal, etc.) with another person within the past 24 hours?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The results<\/strong><br \/>\nThe researchers found that women who slept longer, on average, had increased vaginal arousal. They also found that for every extra hour of sleep a woman had, the likelihood of sex with a partner increased by 14%.<\/p>\n<p>The results go across the board for women. The effects weren\u2019t changed based on age, sexual distress, daytime fatigue or menstruation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Get up with the baby so your wife can sleep. Take the kids to the park so she can take a nap. If you snore, get a CPAP machine so she can get some sleep too!
