Doctors say it’s not a stretch to turn the popular drug into a chewy sensation, after all nicotine gum has been successful.\u00a0 Plus, doctors say this kind of product could appeal to a whole new demographic, like those who have trouble swallowing pills.\u00a0\u00a0Doctors also think\u00a0gum may\u00a0help those who experience nausea while Viagra.<\/p>\n
Wrigley’s could only start to market the gum after Viagra’s patent runs out next year.\u00a0 After that the door is open for other generic drugs to hit shelves, but\u00a0Wrigley’s won’t say how far along they are in the development process.\u00a0 “We file dozens of patents every year with interesting or intriguing concepts,” Christopher Perille, a Wrigley spokesman, said. “But there’s a huge difference between filing for a patent and actually developing a product, and finding one that’s exactly right for commercialization.”<\/p>\n
