The FDA didn\u2019t have a hand in the move, and Bayer is tight-lipped about its reasons, but they have removed Levitra from their product catalog. The same is true of Staxyn, which is another form of brand-name vardenafil.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FDA issued <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2023\/05\/03\/2023-09365\/determination-that-levitra-vardenafil-hydrochloride-oral-tablets-5-milligrams-10-milligrams-and-20\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a notice<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about the withdrawal of 5 milligram, 10 milligram, and 20 milligram Levitra tablets, stating that the drug was not withdrawn for effectiveness or safety reasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the perspective of the FDA, Levitra worked and was safe to use for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FDA\u2019s perspective is supported by the communication between the FDA and Respira Therapeutics, which included an acknowledgment letter, an interim response letter, and a response letter from the former to the latter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Levitra\u2019s Side Effects Didn\u2019t Play a Role in Its Discontinuation<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In rare cases, Levitra could cause severe <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/label\/2007\/021400s010lbl.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like a sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes. All PDE5 inhibitors can cause such side effects, however. Like other PDE5 inhibitors, Levitra may also contribute to dangerously low blood pressure when taken together with blood pressure medications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levitra causes few side effects that Viagra doesn\u2019t, but it may cause gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and a heart rhythm condition called long-QT syndrome.
