From premature ejaculation to erectile dysfunction (ED), zinc is proving to be a game-changer in the bedroom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two studies on zinc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A study published in the medical journal <em>Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine<\/em> showed that men suffering from premature ejaculation who took a combination of zinc supplements, folic acid, biotin and the herb Rhodiola rosea, had more control over their ejaculations.<\/p>\n<p>Another study, published in the <em>Journal of Human Reproductive Sciences<\/em>, showed that zinc supplements \u201csignificantly increased various measures of male sexual competence.\u201d These included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Higher testosterone levels (which can, in turn, help ED)<\/li>\n<li>Fewer incidents of premature ejaculation<\/li>\n<li>An ability to maintain erections for longer periods of time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What depletes men\u2019s zinc levels?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are several things that can work against men trying to maintain just the right amount of zinc. (Too much zinc can also be harmful, so strive for the perfect balance.) Some factors to consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ACE inhibitors<\/li>\n<li>Pepcid, Prilosec and other acid-reducing medications<\/li>\n<li>Thiazide diuretics<\/li>\n<li>A high-grain diet involving grains that haven\u2019t been sprouted or pre-soaked<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How can I naturally add more zinc to my diet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although zinc supplements can certainly help if your doctor or dietician tells you that you\u2019re deficient, there are plenty of foods that are naturally good sources of zinc.
