Post-sex troubles<\/strong>
\nIn a study done by Queensland University of Technology, one in three had experienced \u201cpost-sex blues\u201d at some point.\u00a0 While this phenomenon isn\u2019t talked about much, this study points out that these feelings aren\u2019t just a \u201conce-in-awhile\u201d problem.<\/p>\n

“While 32.9 per cent of women reported experiencing symptoms of depression after sex at least a little of the time in their life, what was even more surprising was that 10 per cent reported experiencing the symptoms some of the time or most of the time,” said Professor Robert Schweitzer from QUT’s School of Psychology & Counseling.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The overwhelming feelings<\/strong>
\nSome women, according to Schweitzer, reported feeling sad, melancholy and restless after sex.\u00a0 While many women feel the urge to spice up their sex life<\/a>, women suffering from this condition are less likely to engage in sex.\u00a0 Right now no one is sure what causes these feelings.<\/p>\n

“Research on the prevalence and causes of this extreme sadness has been virtually silent but internet searches reveal information on the subject is widely sought,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It has generally been thought that women who have experienced sexual abuse associate later sexual encounters with the trauma of the abuse along with sensations of shame, guilt, punishment and loss, but we don’t think that is the case here.”<\/p>\n

The future<\/strong>
\nSchweitzer would like to further this study and find out the similarities between women feeling this way.\u00a0 His first study showed no evidence of sexual trauma in any participants.\u00a0 However, Schweitzer does believe that women who feel sad after sex will probably stop having it.\u00a0 \u201cThis association is likely to lead to sexual problems and the avoidance of sex.”<\/p>\n

He suggests women who feel upset after sex to speak with a therapist to make sure the feelings don\u2019t spill over into parts of their life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
