\"\"<\/a>Parents are breathing a sigh of relief after their 11-month-old twin girls survived a risky surgery.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Rital and Ritag Gaboura were born in Sudan joined at the head.\u00a0 A team of doctors in England separated the girls who are now smiling, happy babies that can move on their own.<\/p>\n

Teams of people help the twins<\/strong>
\nA non-profit group called Facing the World reached out to this family and helped them with medical and transportation costs.\u00a0 The family was flown to England where a surgery to separate the girls was performed at Great Ormond Street Hospital.<\/p>\n

A surgery like this is risky.\u00a0 Experts say one in ten million twins joined at the head survive this condition, which is why doctors felt it was time to move forward with the surgery.\u00a0 Doctors said maintaining blood flow was the toughest part.\u00a0 The surgery was actually done in four stages, but in the end both girls appear to be doing well with no serious side effects.<\/p>\n

Facing the World released a statement saying, “Their laughter and delight in the world has been an inspiration throughout the months of worry. Very soon, their parents will be able to fulfill their dream of taking home two healthy, separate daughters.”<\/p>\n

The girls were released from intensive care and according to doctors were playing with other children in matter of days.<\/p>\n

\nAccording to Medical News Today, the parents released a statement explaining how grateful they are for everyone\u2019s help.<\/p>\n

“We are very thankful to be able to look forward to going home with two separate, healthy girls. We are very grateful to all the doctors who volunteered their time and to Facing the World for organizing all the logistics and for paying for the surgery. We feel very lucky that our girls have been able to have the surgery that they needed, but we also know of other children who need complete sponsorship and families who are searching for someone to help them.”<\/p>\n
