Durex recently decided to do the world a favor. No, not by making another one of those hilarious animal balloon commercials (http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=efRGjRMwagA), although those undeniably do the world a favor.<\/p>\n

No, they conducted a study of sexual satisfaction and frequency across the world and discovered who, precisely, is getting the best sex on the planet. They conducted 26,000 interviews online, from individuals in 26 different countries, to obtain a snapshot of who’s doing what to who with what and how much fun they’re having while doing it. The results are…surprising, to say the least.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>1. \u00a0\tNigeria<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, clocking in at a whopping two-thirds of all respondents feeling sexually satisfied is the land of the 419 scam itself, Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Why Nigeria, especially since its fellow Africa country, South America, clocked in at only 50%, something we’re sure Nigerians like to rub in at every opportunity. The answer, we think, is held in Nigeria’s sexual frequency: only 53% of the respondents to the survey said they were having sex, which is a pretty low percentage compared to the rest of the survey.<\/p>\n

So, extrapolating from the data, Nigerians only have sex with the people they really want to have sex with. They don’t just go out and try to get a self-esteem boost by having empty sex with a stranger. They pick their partners carefully and only sleep with people they’re genuinely attracted to, and abstain the rest of the time. It’s telling the US has the same rate of sexual activity and only comes in at 48%<\/p>\n

That’s…actually kind of heartwarming. Good on you, Nigeria.

\"\"<\/a>2. \u00a0\tMexico<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

With 63% of all respondents really enjoying the sex that they’re getting, Mexico comes in second, only four points away from the Nigerians. Again, we’ve got to look at the other data point, the percentage actually having sex and HELLO! 71% of Mexicans are having sex on a regular basis, and apparently they’re really enjoying themselves while doing it. We’re going to go ahead here and say sex is just more fun in Mexico. Mexico actually is the happy cheese in an unhappy sandwich on this survey, with the US having lots of not-fun sex above them, and Brazil having 30% more sex than the US and having even less fun doing it. We’re going to guess that it’s because Mexicans don’t have all the social hangups that their fellows in the Americas do. After all, sex is better when you don’t feel somebody, somewhere, is disapproving of it. Brazilians have Jesus looking down on them (literally, in Sao Paulo), and Americans have…heck, we don’t know, somebody floating over our shoulder telling us to feel bad. Maybe it’s Dana Carvey’s Church Lady.

\n3. \u00a0\tIndia<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Rounding out the top three is the ancient culture of India, with 61%. Which is a little odd, because this is a culture that’s about as conservative as it gets before we start getting into \u201cAmerica is the Great Satan\u201d territory. No, really. Thanks to the one-two punch of the British and a culture that was never terribly liberal in the first place, India is extremely buttoned down. Except, apparently, in the bedroom.<\/p>\n

As conservative as India is, it’s worth remembering that as a culture, they’ve been thinking about sex for a long, long time, even in a religious context. Western representations of tantra are…well, let’s just say they got it about as right as the McCurry, but it is true that there are spiritual writings concerning sex from India dating back thousands of years. It may be conservative, but at least they’re willing to talk about it, unlike in, say, the US, where boobies are to be feared, especially if they appear for three seconds during a Super Bowl halftime.<\/p>\n

And, since there are no winners without a loser, who has the least satisfying sex?

\"\"<\/a>4.\u00a0 Japan <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Poor, poor Japan. Nobody is having fun in Japan, especially not in the pants.<\/p>\n

Japan scores a measly 15% on sexual satisfaction. We’re not sure why this is, precisely. Japan’s got a sexually open culture, and has had one for centuries. OK, they’re a little weird sometimes, but most Japanese are essentially just normal folks. Maybe they’re just too polite to ask for what they really want? Maybe even they are so disgusted by those tentacle movies they’ve been turned off sex forever?<\/p>\n
