As the study notes, while ED might seem like a \u201ctrivial concern\u201d for men in intensive care units, for men who survive infection the likely development of erectile dysfunction is a real concern. Even when men survive the coronavirus, their sexual health is likely to be damaged.<\/p>\n

The study, published originally in the Journal of Endocrinological Investigation<\/em>, details how the coronavirus creates a variety of disorders in the male body, including endothelial dysfunction<\/a> (coronary artery disease), subclinical hypogonadism<\/a> (dysfunction of the gonads), and impaired pulmonary hemodynamics<\/a> (blood circulation and oxygen resupply). These disorders affect the working of the male body and contribute to the onset of erectile dysfunction. In addition, the study warns that COVID-19 may impact and worsen cardiovascular conditions, which would further increase the risk of ED.<\/p>\n

The authors of the paper note that decades of research have demonstrated how erectile dysfunction is tied intrinsically to systemic health in general. Therefore, as the coronavirus attacks a man’s whole body, it should not be surprising that erectile function and sexual health will be negatively impacted.<\/p>\n
