<\/a>The Chicago Public School system says the curriculum will use language appropriate for young children and will focus on bullying, abuse and correct names for body parts.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs you identify body parts, you talk about should you be touched here or not.,\u201d said Stephanie Whyte, the CPS Chief Health Officer tells a CBS station in Chicago<\/a>. \u201cAnd if someone touches you, and it\u2019s uncomfortable, you should tell a trusted adult.\u201d<\/p>\n The new curriculum will also embrace diversity at home. \u201cWhether that means there\u2019s two moms at home, everyone\u2019s home life is different, and we introduce the fact that we all have a diverse background,\u201d said Whyte.<\/p>\n The new policy calls for 300 minutes of instruction or about 30 minutes a month.<\/p>\n Parents are split on the issue<\/strong><\/p>\n Some parents say it\u2019s necessary, others say kindergarten is way too young to learn about the birds and bees.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to know what kind of education she is receiving before she gets that education,\u201d a mother of kindergartener said, asking not to be named. \u201cAs a parent, I have a right to know.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m OK with it,\u201d said parent Ayesha Ahmad. \u201cI\u2019d like to believe it\u2019s not necessary, but I think our culture dictates you can\u2019t start early enough.\u201d<\/p>\n Parents can have their child opt out of a certain lesson if they oppose it.<\/p>\n Your thoughts?<\/strong><\/p>\n Is kindergarten too young to start talking about sex?
