Don\u2019t just get hot and sweaty on beach, summertime is a great time to heat things up in the bedroom. Ian Kerner, a sexual councilor and writer for CNN Health<\/a>, offers some tips to kick your summer love life up a notch or two.<\/p>\n

Spice it up<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you in a sex rut? If so, read these three suggestions to spice up your love life.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Don\u2019t be afraid to do something out of the norm. A survey on Kerner\u2019s site, Good In Bed, shows 70 percent of people were open to trying something new. So, go for it. Whether it\u2019s a new toy, some lingerie, a new position or a different location, variety can bring the spark back to a relationship.<\/p>\n

Make an effort<\/strong><\/p>\n

Couples tend to get in a sex rut. Whether it\u2019s young kids that make it tough to find alone time, or a stressful job that leaves you too tired to have sex, you\u2019ve got to break the cycle. Spend some time on your relationship – it will be worth it.<\/p>\n

Beware of movie-inspired locations<\/strong><\/p>\n

While it might look fun to have sex in the pool or on the beach, it\u2019s not a great idea. While it is a good idea to have sex outside of the bedroom, you have to use a little common sense.<\/p>\n

“Sex on the beach may not be quite as exciting in real life, when you wind up with sand in your mouth and other places,” social psychologist Justin Lehmiller said.<\/p>\n

The pool isn\u2019t a great idea either.<\/p>\n

A healthy sex life is part of a balanced relationship.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“For one thing, the water will wash away both natural and artificial lubrication, which can make sex less comfortable,” Lehmiller explained. “Additionally, the chemicals in the pool can lead to genital irritation.”<\/p>\n
