However, a promising drug, <a href=\"https:\/\/ph.news.yahoo.com\/female-viagra-drug-sex-144147609.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lybrido<\/a>, is in the testing phase and may seek FDA approval as soon as 2022. This article discusses the latest drug to be considered \u2018Female Viagra\u2019, and how it compares to track records of past medications marketed to treat symptoms of female sexual dysfunction.<\/p>\n<h3>What Makes It Viagra for Women?<\/h3>\n<p>A promising new drug currently being tested to treat sexual performance issues for women has earned the nickname \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/02\/08\/researchers-claim-female-viagra-like-drug-just-two-years-away-12204926\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Viagra for Women&#8217;<\/a> since it contains sildenafil and testosterone. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodrx.com\/sildenafil\/what-is\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sildenafil<\/a>, the active ingredient in Viagra, is perhaps most well-known for treating erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. However, sildenafil is effective in treating other health conditions in both men and women. A type of vasodilator in a class of medications known as phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, sildenafil is also prescribed to treat symptoms of pulmonary arterial hypertension, a type of high blood pressure.<\/p>\n<h3>Female Sexual Dysfunction and Treatment<\/h3>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-fil fr-dib aligncenter\" style=\"width: 900px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mediashower.com\/img\/EA401D74-44B3-11EA-A356-26C2537012A6\/bigstock-A-Pile-Of-Pink-Pills-On-A-Gree-348043351_900x.jpg\" alt=\"Pink pills.\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/strong><br \/>\nMen aren\u2019t the only ones who experience sexual dysfunction. Women can suffer from what is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/female-sexual-dysfunction\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20372549?page=0&amp;citems=10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">female sexual dysfunction<\/a> if they experience <a href=\"https:\/\/emotionalbrain.nl\/?page_id=66\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">significant distress<\/a> from the symptoms below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Issues with sexual response<\/li>\n<li>Low or no sexual desire<\/li>\n<li>Trouble orgasming<\/li>\n<li>Experiencing pain during sexual intercourse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While men have effective drugs like Viagra to treat their ED symptoms, women are still waiting for their \u2018holy grail\u2019 drug. Drugs like <a href=\"https:\/\/addyi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Addyi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vyleesi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vyleesi<\/a> are already available to women, though they are marketed as treatments for <a href=\"https:\/\/addyi.com\/hsdd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD)<\/a>, rather than for female sexual dysfunction.<\/p>\n<h3>Introducing the Little Pink Pill<\/h3>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-fil fr-dib aligncenter\" style=\"width: 900px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mediashower.com\/img\/EA401D74-44B3-11EA-A356-26C2537012A6\/bigstock-Happy-black-woman-covering-eye-337474234_900x.jpg\" alt=\"Woman covering her face with her arms.\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/emotionalbrain.nl\/?page_id=66\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dutch researchers<\/a> are hoping to offer women their own little blue pills (except these are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-7980023\/New-10-female-Viagra-boosts-womens-sex-drives-available-two-years.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pink and mint-flavored<\/a>) for sexual dysfunction, called Lybrido and Lybridos. Similar to Viagra, women would take Lybrido about <a href=\"https:\/\/ph.news.yahoo.com\/female-viagra-drug-sex-144147609.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3-6 hours before they plan to have sex<\/a>, rather than having to take a medication long-term, like with Addyi. Lybrido is also a pain-free alternative to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drugs.com\/vyleesi.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vylessi<\/a>, which has to be injected 45 minutes before sexual activity.<\/p>\n<p>Lybrido appears to perform better than Vylessi, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everydayhealth.com\/drugs\/vyleesi\/reviews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lacks a strong track record<\/a>. One study with nearly 1,000 women is already showing promising results. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-7980023\/New-10-female-Viagra-boosts-womens-sex-drives-available-two-years.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to the researcher<\/a>, \u2018women made love more often and were more likely to reach orgasm\u2019 when taking Lybrido. Still, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/women\/features\/guide-to-female-viagra#1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">people are skeptical<\/a> if women will ever truly get a female version of Viagra. Though Viagra can also be used to treat low sexual desire in men, it is more commonly used to help a man get or keep an erection.
