Sildenafil citrate, Viagra\u2019s generic equivalent, made its long-awaited debut near the end of 2017 and was joined in September 2018 by tadalafil, the generic equivalent of Cialis. The most recent addition to the selection of generic ED drugs available is vardenafil hydrochloride, which was introduced on November 1, 2018, by Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the number of generic ED medications are still quite limited, they do represent the availability of somewhat more affordable alternatives to popular ED drugs. It\u2019s customary for the first drugmaker that wins Food and Drug Administration approval to market a generic medication to enjoy a 180-day period of market exclusivity. It is usually only after that six-month period that rival generic contenders can then enter the market, increasing competition and generally forcing prices lower.<\/p>\n

Given these realities, current prices for vardenafil hydrochloride are not sharply lower than those for comparable amounts of brand-name Levitra, as you can see from the table below. Among all the listed retailers, the average price for a 10-milligram dose of Levitra is $28.56. Substituting generic vardenafil, you’ll pay an average of $20.84 for a 10-milligram dose, for an average savings of $7.72 per dose.<\/p>\n
