Millions of Americans take NSAIDs<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to WebMD<\/a>, about 30 million Americans take NSAIDs, which stands for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The over-the-counter medications are taken for everyday aches and pains like headaches or strained muscles.<\/p>\n

Previous studies have linked these medications to gastoinestinal problems, high blood pressure, kidney damage and sudden loss of erection.<\/p>\n

Pain Meds and Erection Problems<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to ABC News<\/a>, a recent study shows men taking NSAIDs were 1.22 times more likely to have ED, compared to men who weren\u2019t taking NSAIDs at all.<\/p>\n

Dr. Steven Jacobsen, director of research at Kaiser Permanente Southern California, who conducted the study, was surprised by the results.<\/p>\n

“We went into this study thinking we would find the opposite effect: that NSAIDs would have a protective effect because they protect against heart disease, which is also linked to Loss of Erection. The next step is to dive a bit deeper to understand the underlying physiology of what might be happening with these drugs.”<\/p>\n

Jacobsen says the study doesn\u2019t prove NSAIDs cause loss of erection.<\/p>\n

“I think probably the more important thing is that [by] bringing this to men’s attention, that it may actually stimulate some conversation with their care provider about, first, erection problems, and, second, about some of the other risk factors for male loss of erection issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jacobsen says people should not stop taking NSAIDs without talking to their doctor first.<\/p>\n
