Some experts feel that cell phones are a ticking time bomb in terms of health problems.\u00a0 Experts have recently released new evidence showing that your beloved cell phone may actually be causing cancer.<\/p>\n

Cell phones emit electromagnetic radiation which is suspected to be a cause of brain tumor development.<\/p>\n

The International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France issued a statement that cell phones are possibly carcinogenic to humans.\u00a0 They classified cellphones in category 2B, which includes other problematic chemicals like gasoline exhaust and the now illegal pesticide DDT.<\/p>\n

Previous research showed no conclusive evidence supporting the idea that cell phones cause cancer.\u00a0 However, cell phone use has drastically changed in the past few years.\u00a0 People not only use cell phones for calls, but also use them for texting, internet access, GPS directions, and photography.\u00a0 As a result, people are rarely if ever away from their cell phone, and they are always turned on.<\/p>\n

The number of cell phone users has increased rapidly. \u00a0\u00a0According to the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet association, more than 285 million subscribers to cell phone service in the United States in 2009. This is an increase from 110 million users in 2000 and 208 million users in 2005.<\/p>\n

Although previous research had show no conclusive evidence linking cell phones to cancer, there are many people who feel it is too early to claim that there is no risk.\u00a0 Many types of cancer can take decades to develop, so there is no way to know for sure at this point whether there are health risks associated with long term exposure.<\/p>\n
