Report shows people will spend more on Halloween this year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Stock up on candy, Halloween is just around the corner. This year, the National Retail Federation<\/a> says more people than ever will celebrate the ghoulish holiday. About 170 million people are expected to drop an estimated $80 billion dollar on Halloween this year.<\/p>\n

Consumers spending more<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each consumer will spend about $80 on decorations, candy and costumes. That\u2019s up about $8 from last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the time Halloween rolls around each year it\u2019s safe to say Americans have already spent two months preparing for one of the fastest-growing and most widely-loved holidays of the year,\u201d said NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay.<\/p>\n

\u201cRetailers know that when it comes to Halloween, new costume ideas for children, adults and pets, and the latest in home and yard d\u00e9cor top people\u2019s shopping lists. We expect retailers to stock their shelves well ahead of time to capture the attention of eager holiday shoppers.\u201d\u00a0
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Halloween, not just for kids<\/strong><\/p>\n

The majority of consumers will buy costumes at a retail store, others will hit up a thrift store. Crafty folks will take a stab at making a costume and some people will toss a \u201clazy\u201d costume together. In other words, they\u2019ll pull something from their closet and work it into a costume. It all works.<\/p>\n

While many people associate the holiday with kids and trick or treating, more adults are getting into the Halloween spirit as well. Adult costume parties are big right now, plus, adults love to decorate their yard.<\/p>\n

According to the National Retail Federation survey, 50 percent of people plan to break out the lawn ornaments for the holiday, 45 percent said they will dress up and 33 percent of people surveyed said they are planning a party.<\/p>\n
