According to Reuters<\/a>, it will enable doctors to do genetic analysis of a patient’s tumor in less than a minute. Right now, that job can take from eight to 10 weeks.<\/p>\n “This is something the federal government should have done, but we waited and waited for them,” Soon-Shiong told Reuters in an interview.<\/p>\n “It’s unconscionable that cancer patients get the wrong diagnosis 30 percent of the time and that it takes so long to treat them with appropriate drugs for their cancer.”<\/p>\n Quiet Billionaire<\/strong><\/p>\n Soon-Shiong made his millions by creating pharmaceuticals and then selling the companies. He is part owner of the LA Lakers and has donated millions to various organizations over the years.<\/p>\n Until recently, Soon-Shiong asked to remain anonymous, but several big business deals have the South African native in the spotlight. He\u2019s about to purchase Anschutz\u2019s sports<\/p>\n and entertainment, a company that owns 100 sporting venues worldwide. He\u2019s even announced plans to bring pro football back to LA.<\/p>\n “There are few Patrick Soon-Shiongs in this world,” said retired General Wesley Clark, who has served with him on non-profit boards.<\/p>\n “A brilliant doctor, a great businessman and someone who is very patriotic.
