Finasteride<\/a> works because it decreases the presence of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp. DHT is a byproduct of the male hormone testosterone, and it\u2019s the primary cause of hair loss. When DHT is present, it can shrink hair follicles until they are unable to produce hair.<\/p>\n
