This initial research, done on mice, shows that the size of cancerous tumors can be reduced with intravenous injections of vitamin C.  While this same effect in humans has yet to be proven, the preliminary results of this study offer the interesting possibility of using vitamin C as a drug.<\/p>\n<p>The body regulates vitamin C and how much of it is absorbed, making it virtually impossible to overdose.  Researchers have found a way to get around the body&#8217;s control system by delivering the vitamin C intravenously, which bypasses the digestive system.<\/p>\n<p>The tests have shown that certain types of tumors are immune to vitamin C, but discovering why that is, and which types of tumors are immune will require additional research. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows the potential of vitamin C as a treatment for cancer.
