The survey covered seven ED medications, three of which aren&#8217;t even available in the United States, and concluded that of the seven, Viagra was the most effective.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents to the survey acknowledged that side effects were more common with Viagra too, so there&#8217;s a tradeoff involved.\u00a0Fortunately, for most men, Viagra&#8217;s side effects are mild and include\u00a0headache, nasal congestion, and other side effects that aren&#8217;t unpleasant enough to make them want to stop taking it.<\/p>\n<h3>The Study Says: Viagra for ED<\/h3>\n<p>Viagra remains at the top of the list of medications currently used to treat erectile dysfunction, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biopharmadive.com\/news\/report-viagra-most-effective-ed-treatment-but-has-more-side-effects\/384323\/\">a study from Switzerland<\/a>. The study analyzed more than 150 clinical trials on seven drugs for ED, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Viagra (sildenafil citrate)<\/li>\n<li>Cialis (tadalafil)<\/li>\n<li>Levitra (vardenafil)<\/li>\n<li>Stendra (avanafil)<\/li>\n<li>Zydena (udenafil)<\/li>\n<li>Helleva (lodenafil)<\/li>\n<li>Mvix (mirodenafil)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The study said all these drugs were \u201csafe and generally tolerable.\u201d Drugs like Viagra are also extremely effective for treating ED, which is why men continue to use these medications.<\/p>\n<p>The study noted that Viagra has some of the highest incidences of side effects but that men still prefer the medication to any other drug.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the study suggested that this entire class of drugs, known as phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors, are effective to treat ED, but that \u201cED may not be a natural part of aging but rather a medical condition that can and should be addressed clinically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is an important point for older men who may be quietly struggling with ED and writing their bedroom performance off to age.
