Scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York have developed a curcumin-based ointment that seems to help rats with erectile dysfunction. Curcumin is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in the spice turmeric, which in turn is one of the primary ingredients in curry powder. The ointment, which seeps through the skin on the belly, is reported to dilate the arteries that carry blood to the penis. The hope is that the ointment will work on human males as well.<\/p>\n

A sexual medicine expert at Imperial College London explained that curcumin is an antioxidant and could prevent narrowed arteries, a known contributor to erectile dysfunction. \u201cBut eating a Mediterranean diet and doing regular cardio exercise can also prevent the clogged arteries which cause erectile problems,\u201d says David Goldmeier, M.D.<\/p>\n
