How Big Is the Problem?<\/h3>\n

According to an article in Sky News,<\/em> erectile dysfunction drugs make up 90% of all the counterfeit drugs that are seized by authorities in the UK, and the numbers are growing. As Lee-Frost explains it, \u201cWhen I first started doing this, you\u2019d get people flying out to India \u2026 coming back with a couple suitcases \u2026 and dealing it all from their spare bedroom [online]. Now you\u2019ve got organized crime involved. It\u2019s a big, big business.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the U.S., the main legal erectile dysfunction drugs are Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, but there are also tons of fake or unregulated erectile dysfunction \u201ccures.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who’s Taking ED Drugs?<\/h3>\n

According to Raymond Francis, a sexual psychotherapist who spoke with Sky News,<\/em> this new group of erectile dysfunction drug misusers tend to be under 35 and \u201cnot in [a] long-term relationship.\u201d As he explains it, the pills serve as \u201can insurance policy for performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of the men using the erectile dysfunction drugs at parties are doing so to cancel out the negative sexual effects of alcohol and other drugs.<\/p>\n

Francis says that the \u201cplethora of sexual imagery through pornography\u201d has played a big role in men feeling pressure to perform sexually. Francis says he doesn\u2019t have any patients with physiological issues, so it\u2019s likely that they\u2019re psychologically dependent on erectile dysfunction drugs to live up to unrealistic standard shown in pornography.<\/p>\n
