Men in the UK Can Now Get Viagra Over the Counter<\/figcaption><\/figure> On November 28, 2017, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced that it was changing the classification of Viagra Connect from \u201cprescription-only\u201d to \u201cpharmacy medicine,\u201d which means men over 18 with erectile dysfunction (ED) can buy Viagra Connect without a prescription.<\/p>\n

Why make Viagra available without a prescription?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MHRA decided to make Viagra accessible over the counter after gathering advice from the Commission on Human Medicines.<\/p>\n

Because Viagra Connect has been determined to be safe for most men with erectile dysfunction, those seeking the ED drug will simply need to talk to the pharmacist first to ensure that they have no health issues or conflicting medications that might require them to avoid Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drugs. These might include concerns like liver failure, severe cardiovascular disorder or severe kidney failure.<\/p>\n

Making Viagra Connect easier to get will allow more men to seek help for erectile dysfunction when they might otherwise be too embarrassed to talk to their regular physician.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision is good news for men\u2019s health,\u201d says MHRA\u2019s Group Manager in Vigilance and Risk Management of Medicines Mick Foy. \u201cThe move to make Viagra Connect more widely accessible will encourage men to seek help within the healthcare system and increase awareness of erectile dysfunction.\u201d<\/p>\n

A four-pack of the Viagra Connect will sell for about $27.<\/p>\n

Avoiding the dangers of fake or unlicensed erectile dysfunction drugs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Making Viagra Connect available through the pharmacist will also help men with erectile dysfunction avoid buying fake Viagra (or Cialis or Levitra) online or resorting to unreliable, tainted and possibly dangerous \u201cED supplements\u201d at the closest corner store.<\/p>\n

Viagra is now the most counterfeited drug in the world. The MHRA seized more than $67 million in fake or unlicensed erectile dysfunction drugs over the past five years.<\/p>\n
