In fact, sexting has become quite mainstream, with an Indiana University Kinsey Institute\/Clue survey finding that 67% of 140,000 participants from 198 countries have done it.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a big jump from five years ago, when an earlier Kinsey study found that only 21% of respondents had sexted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis increase, and this large of a proportion of respondents, suggests that incorporating tech into our private lives is becoming normal,\u201d says Kinsey Institute Research Scientists Amanda Gesselman. \u201cSexting may be becoming a new, but typical step in a sexual or romantic relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

SMS vs. Snapchat<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although most of the Americans reported sexting using SMS, younger respondents were more likely to have used Snapchat. The mobile app lets users send messages (including images and videos) that self-destruct a few seconds after they\u2019ve been viewed by the recipient.
