Caverflo Natural Herbal Coffee Contained Viagra and Cialis ED Drug Ingredients that Could Have Lead to Several Men’s Deaths<\/figcaption><\/figure>In May 2017, the FDA announced that Caverflo.com had issued a voluntary nationwide recall of its natural herbal coffee after it was found to contain not only undeclared milk, but also the active ingredients in two erectile dysfunction (ED) drugs.<\/p>\n

The coffee, which is packaged in 25-gram black foil packs and promoted as a natural male enhancement product, may be responsible for a man\u2019s death. Although the distributor hasn\u2019t said whether the coffee was a direct factor in the death, the man died after using the coffee.<\/p>\n

The FDA\u2019s lab analyzed the coffee and found both tadalafil and sildenafil, the active ingredients in ED drugs (Cialis and Viagra, respectively) available by prescription only. These drugs are known to be dangerous when used in conjunction with common heart medications, but the drugs were not mentioned on the product\u2019s label.<\/p>\n

Although the distributor\u2019s website did say that people with heart conditions should always consult a doctor before beginning \u201cany regiment,\u201d there was also a promise that \u201cas a safe natural herb, this will not have any toxicity.\u201d<\/p>\n

And though the website did also include a disclaimer explaining that the FDA had not evaluated the product and that the coffee wasn\u2019t intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, no one would ever see it due to a loophole: While food labeling laws require a certain type size and placement, there\u2019s no requirement on the text\u2019s color. The distributor used white text on a white background on its website.<\/em><\/p>\n

The distributor, a truck driver named Brian Richardson, who also owns the website, says the hidden text was accidental. He claims that he didn\u2019t know the supplement was tainted and that he doesn\u2019t believe the man\u2014who he knew\u2014died because of the coffee.<\/p>\n

Richardson isn\u2019t the only distributor of the herbal coffee. But several other sites, such as Amazon and eBay, appear to have taken down their pages promoting the sale of Caverflo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
