FDA Warns Consumers About ‘Foods’ That Claim to Treat ED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The FDA says they’re seeing an staggering number of ‘foods’ that claim to treat erectile dysfunction. Many of the products like coffee or gum are marketed as “all-natural” or “herbal” remedies, but the FDA says some of the these products can contain harmful ingredients.<\/p>\n

What consumers should know<\/strong><\/p>\n

The FDA reminds consumers that “all-natural” remedies may seem safe, but that’s not the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re finding an alarming number of these products sold online and in retail stores. They\u2019re often sold in single-serving sizes in gas stations or vending machines. We\u2019ve seen pills, coffees, chewing gum and dissolvable oral strips that contain hidden drug ingredients or untested chemicals,\u201d says Gary Coody, R.Ph., FDA\u2019s national health fraud coordinator.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsumers have no way of knowing which drugs or ingredients are actually in the product just by reading the ingredients on the label.\u201d<\/p>\n

In some cases, these products do contain the active ingredients that are found in Viagra, but the dosage varies. It’s not listed on the ingredients section of the product, and there’s no way for consumers to know how much they’ll consume. In one case, the FDA found levels of Viagra that were 31 times to the normal dose.<\/p>\n

In other cases, the foods contained a dangerous drug cocktail. In one case, the FDA found high levels of the active ingredient in Viagra mixed with an unapproved medication for depression.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of these products have as many as six different ingredients contained in FDA-approved prescription drugs and analog of those ingredients, which are similar compounds of the drugs. We don\u2019t know what danger this poses because these combinations have never been studied before they\u2019re sold to unsuspecting consumers,\u201d Coody says.<\/p>\n

Best way to treat ED<\/strong><\/p>\n
