There\u2019s a lot of buzz about a new weight loss supplement that includes bee pollen as an ingredient. However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is telling dieters to stay away from these hyped products<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Why are bee pollen products are dangerous?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The problem with bee pollen weight loss products isn\u2019t the bee pollen specifically, but undisclosed ingredients that are included in the bee pollen weight loss product formula. These ingredients include sibutramine, which negatively impacts the body\u2019s blood circulation, and phenolphthalein, which has been known to cause cancer.<\/p>\n

Neither ingredient is approved by the FDA, because they are known for aggravating chronic conditions, like high blood pressure, and causing sudden onset health issues, like strokes, heart attacks, diarrhea, and even suicidal thoughts.<\/p>\n

The FDA has received upwards of 50 reports from consumers who have been affected by bee pollen weight loss products. There has been one confirmed death.<\/p>\n

Who can you trust?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The FDA is naming names<\/a> in its recent warning, so that consumers can be aware of mislabeled bee pollen weight loss products. The most egregious offender is Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen whose online presence appears legitimate but misleads consumers into believing that their products are a cure-all for a range of health conditions, especially obesity.<\/p>\n

The FDA has continuing concerns about bee pollen weight loss products. The agency plans to continue further testing to determine if other products containing bee pollen, especially those imported from abroad, contain unapproved and undisclosed ingredients. The FDA has also reiterated its stance that supplements, such as bee pollen, may not be labeled as treatments for medical conditions, since there is little to no scientific proof of such claims.<\/p>\n
