I<\/span>t’s cedar fever time again in central Texas, and the symptoms are among the worst in memory. Many find that Flonase offers prompt relief from their allergy symptoms.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Doctors are seeing a flood of people dealing with cedar fever. This condition plagues people who are allergic to a specific kind of pollinating cedar tree located in Texas. The trees pollinate in the winter months, and this season these trees are wreaking havoc on allergy sufferers.<\/p>\n

People battling cedar fever don\u2019t have a fever at all. Instead, they have typical allergy symptoms, according to Christopher A. Lewis, M.D., who’s affiliated with St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.<\/p>\n

“They’re gonna have a runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, and a lot of uncontrollable sneezing,” said Lewis. “It can even interfere with their sleep at night, so patients might have a lot of irritability and maybe a decreased ability to do their jobs appropriately.”<\/p>\n

A Fox station in Austin, Texas, says cedar fever is hitting the area particularly hard this year.\u00a0“I can’t stop rubbing my eyes,” Dean Clement, an allergy sufferer, tells Fox.<\/p>\n

Allergy Sufferers Seek Relief<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re dealing with cedar fever, you want relief fast. One pharmacy in Austin sells an over-the-counter treatment, but according to Kimberly Fontenot, with People’s Pharmacy, supplies are running low.<\/p>\n

“What we’re doing is calling another store, which makes them short,” she says. \u201cThe pharmacy sells ‘Cedar Fever Drops,’ which comes in both drops and a spray. We’re currently out of the spray, we just have the drops left, but it works great.\u201d<\/p>\n

For some, over-the-counter treatments won\u2019t cut it. Prescriptions like Flonase can help allergy sufferers get the bothersome array of cedar fever symptoms under control. It works for Texas resident Clement.<\/p>\n

“I take Flonase, and that seems to help keep me in check,” he said.<\/p>\n

The cedar fever season is typically worse from December through February, so hopefully allergy sufferers will get some relief soon, Lewis says.<\/p>\n
