Intimidating Female Breadwinners<\/strong><\/p>\n

The report, highlighted in the Huffington Post<\/a>, shows men are twice as likely to take Viagra if their wife makes $15,000 a year more than they do. However, the problem still exists even if women make just a few hundred dollars more than their man.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven small differences in relative income are associated with large changes in erectile dysfunction medication usage when they shift the marriage from a male to a female breadwinner,\u201d researchers said.<\/p>\n

The increased likelihood of erectile dysfunction could be linked to pride, according to the study.<\/p>\n

\u201cMale sexual desire is linked to cultural and social factors such as patriarchy, money and social networks, potentially causing men to suffer reduced sexual desire or dysfunction when perceiving their traditional provider role to be usurped,\u201d researchers stated. \u201cAnger and frustration can lead to serious sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Changing Family Budget<\/strong><\/p>\n

While male breadwinners still out number female breadwinners in America, there is no question that family budgets are changing as more women contribute financially.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvidence suggests that gender roles have changed little over the past 20 years,\u201d the researchers suggested. \u201cIf social norms against female breadwinners continue to be strong, increasing female income will produce real costs in marriage, including the anxiety, insomnia and erectile dysfunction identified here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Money becomes a problem in the bedroom.<\/figcaption><\/figure> While husband may turn to medication for help in the bedroom, the wives are also turning to prescriptions to ease stress and help them sleep.<\/p>\n
