New pot-infused pot products are on the market.<\/figcaption><\/figure>Skin care products have all kinds of ingredients that promise to treat a variety of ailments. From vitamin E to jojoba oil, the list of ingredients is endless, but a Colorado company has created a skin care recipe that contains cannabis. That\u2019s right, the \u201cmedicated skin care products\u201d contain cannabis flower oil, which was recently made legal in the state.<\/p>\n

The reason a company wants to add cannabis<\/strong><\/p>\n

Appothecanna, the company behind the skin care products, says cannabis in topical creams can relieve pain. The company owner says the products aren\u2019t meant to create a high in anyway.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is for the skin,\u201d Apothecanna owner James Kennedy told ABC News. \u201cIt\u2019s not meant to be inebriating in any way.\u00a0 It\u2019s added in there to enhance the properties of the other ingredients.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company is taking advantage of the recent passage of a law that allows recreational use of pot in Colorado. Amendment 64, which allows the recreational use of pot, was approved by voters in November.<\/p>\n

You can buy all sorts of skin care products, from lotions to lip balm and body sprays. All of these products use cannabis seed oil.<\/p>\n

Doctors are critical of the new skin care products<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the new products are rolling out, some doctors aren\u2019t willing to endorse the benefits of cannabis for skin care.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout definitive data demonstrating efficacy of botanical ingredients such as cannabis, more research must be done to evaluate their utility for skin conditions,\u201d said Manhattan-based dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner, an assistant professor of dermatology at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York.<\/p>\n

Colorado residents won\u2019t be able to buy the skin care products for a while, according to ABC News the products are only available to medical marijuana patients until retail marijuana stores are allowed to open in January 2014.
