Fruit factors<\/strong><\/p>\n

Research from Texas shows \u201cstone fruits\u201d – or any kind of fruit where a pit or stone needs to be removed \u2013 could help people trying to deal with extra weight.<\/p>\n

“Our studies have shown that stone fruits \u2013 peaches, plums and nectarines \u2013 have bioactive compounds that can potentially fight the syndrome,” said Cisneros-Zevallos, who also is an associate professor at Texas A&M University.<\/p>\n

“Our work indicates that phenolic compounds present in these fruits have anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties in different cell lines and may also reduce the oxidation of bad cholesterol LDL which is associated to cardiovascular disease.”<\/p>\n

These fruits offer a mixture of the bioactive compounds that work simultaneously within the different components of the disease. Recently, researchers also discovered unknown health benefits of berries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Helping the body<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Our work shows that the four major phenolic groups \u2013 anthocyanins, clorogenic acids, quercetin derivatives and catechins \u2013 work on different cells \u2013 fat cells, macrophages and vascular endothelial cells,” he explained. “They modulate different expressions of genes and proteins depending on the type of compound.<\/p>\n

\"\"“However, at the same time, all of them are working simultaneously in different fronts against the components of the disease, including obesity, inflammation, diabetes and cardiovascular disease,” he explained.<\/p>\n

While Cisneros-Zevallos says these fruits are not a cure-all for obesity problems, they could help people prevent obesity complications. Cisneros-Zevallos says eating habits and lifestyle choices shouldn\u2019t be downplayed when it comes to obesity, and hopes his findings can add to potential suggestions for obese patients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
