The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston may have done just that.\u00a0 Recent stem cell research has shown that it is possible to prevent stem cells from producing the belly fat that is plaguing so many Americans.<\/p>\n
The Scientists used a groundbreaking new method for targeting fat-generating stem cells.\u00a0 This method could eventually be used to slow the cells\u2019 ability to store fat.\u00a0 Small artificial proteins were used in mice to identify the adipose stem cells responsible for fat storage in the body of both mice and humans.<\/p>\n

“Helping people lose weight might also reduce their risk of cardiovascular diseases, certain types of cancer, Type 2 diabetes and other obesity-related diseases,” said Kolonin, director of the study at the University of Texas Health Medical School.<\/p>\n
Now that the scientists are able to target the source of these fat cells in the body, they will be able to control and eliminate them when they are causing a problem. \u00a0\u00a0The next step will be to develop compounds that will target these specific adipose stem cells.\u00a0 By getting rid of these cells, they may be able to provide long-term fat loss without a need for dieting or surgery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
