Norovirus vs. Flu<\/strong><\/p>\n

This pesky flu-like bug<\/a> is not the flu at all; instead, it causes gastroenteritis, or an inflammation of the stomach and the intestines. While the symptoms do mirror those of the flu, the Norovirus is not a respiratory illness like the flu. Noroviruses is by far the leading cause of foodborne illness outbreaks in many states.<\/p>\n

The symptoms of Norovirus illness usually include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and some stomach cramping. Sometimes people additionally have a low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and a general sense of tiredness. The illness often begins suddenly, and the infected person may feel very sick. Symptoms usually begin 24-48 hours after exposure to the virus, but can appear as early as 12 hours.<\/p>\n
