The United States Food and Drug Administration has finished conducting reviews of 29 cases of sudden loss of hearing associated with erectile dysfunction medicines such as Viagra, Levitra and Cialis<\/a>. The FDA has also recently issued a requirement to the manufacturers of these drugs to place a warning label on their products about the potential risk of the sudden loss of hearing; the new warning label has included this possible side effect since 2007.<\/p>\n In most cases the hearing loss affected one ear, and the event was only temporary. A few of the instances involved ringing in the ears and dizziness. <\/span>The new warning label will also indicate what to do in case a person experiences sudden loss of hearing. It is highly recommended to stop taking the erectile dysfunction medicine prescribed to you and to seek medical attention right away if sudden hearing loss occurs, or any other negative reactions occur<\/p>\n The elderly commonly report problems relative to loss of their hearing, while older men in particular are more likely to experience erectile dysfunction<\/a> due to health-related issues. Therefore, instead of being related to each other, the two incidents may be coincidental in nature. Right now there is no clear evidence that shows a direct correlation between sudden loss of hearing and taking an erectile dysfunction medicine.<\/p>\n The possible side effects of hearing loss are uncommon, even if there are facts to support a direct link between hearing loss and erectile dysfunction medicine. The most common side effects of Viagra<\/a> are headache, flushing and an upset stomach.
