From 403 pounds to 114, read how one woman did it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>When Christie Morgan was forced to pose for pictures at her niece\u2019s Sweet 16 party, she saw just how big she had gotten. At 403 pounds, Morgan knew she had to make changes.<\/p>\n

Getting healthy without medical intervention<\/strong><\/p>\n

Morgan was advised by doctors to have gastric bypass, a surgery that divides the stomach into a smaller section so people eat less. <\/p>\n

Morgan knew friends who had the surgery and felt as though they didn\u2019t really change their diet, they just ate smaller amount, she said.<\/p>\n

Rather than go in for surgery, Morgan sat down and created her own diet plan. Taking some of the nutrition knowledge she learned in college, she created a diet full of lean meats, fish, vegetables, fruits and water.<\/p>\n

Plus, she started exercising. The first day she hit the gym, she hit a setback. Her weight broke one of the machines, so she decided to start walking on her own.<\/p>\n

“It’s not about investing in supplements, gym memberships, programs or diet plans,” she told CNN<\/a>. “For me it was about investing in myself, my health, my mind and my body.”<\/p>\n

From 403 pounds to 114<\/strong><\/p>\n

Morgan stuck to her diet and kept exercising, even though friends told her she wouldn\u2019t be successful without medical help. In two years, Morgan has lost 298 pounds.<\/p>\n

Before she lost the weight she remembers how unhealthy she felt.<\/p>\n

Eating healthy was Morgan’s first big step towards weight loss.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“I swear, every beat of my heart hurt,” Morgan says. “Any moment could be my last, and I felt one morning I simply would not wake up.”<\/p>\n

Now, she says she\u2019s finally found happiness in her life.<\/p>\n

“Perfection is knowing that I am the best I can be in every way,” she says. “And now I’m no longer an observer of life, but a participant.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
