As wonderful as children are, they will get into things they aren’t supposed to. Keep an eye on them, and lock your medicine cabinets. Don’t rely on child-resistant caps.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Novartis Consumer Health has recalled caps on their syrup medicines, Triaminic and Theraflu. Even with the tamper-resistant seals on, children are still able to get into the bottles.<\/p>\n

However, the recall is being issued on products that were sold over a year ago, so the chances are slim that any of it is still being used or remains on sale. However, if anyone does have some still, they can answer the recall notice for a refund.<\/p>\n

Easy-Open Consequences<\/strong>
\nNovartis estimates that over 97% of the product<\/a> is off the market. Most of it has either been consumed, returned to Novartis, or quarantined at a Novartis warehouse. What they\u2019ll do with it there remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

However, 12 reports have been made to Novartis about children opening the bottles. Four of them ingested the product, and one had to receive medical attention.<\/p>\n

Old school medicine bottles were around for hundreds of years before childproof caps. Remember that children will tamper with anything, and can easily open it if they try.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As a precaution, some of the Canadian products are also being recalled.<\/p>\n

Child-Resistant Caps<\/strong>
